North Beach Engagement Photos: Marco and Lindsey

I met Marco through BAIA, a wonderful group of Italian professionals workings in the Bay Area. Marco is Italian, from Canada and is planning his wedding with Lindsey.

Lindsey picked a city theme for our engagement shoot together. Most of Lindsey and Marco's family will be traveling to the wedding from out of town and Lindsey thought it would be great to show a little bit of San Francisco in the engagement pictures.

Marco and Lindsey are really planning everything together: they love to be creative and to think of all the little personal touches they can add to their wedding. Marco is even designing his and his groomsmen's ties!

The weather was really unpredictable the day of the shoot, but we got lucky and it didn't rain. After walking in North Beach, we decided to head for some greenery and more intimate pictures. I always encourage couples to bring extra outfits, it can be fun to change half way through our session together.

Only at the end of the session I found out Marco and Lindsey have a Vespa! WHAAAT? We had to take a final picture!

And here's the extra bonus: Marco wanted a fun kiss in front of the Italian flag in North Beach. Thank you both for a wonderful day in the city!

Photos from the Startup Game, a BAIA event with Bill Draper and Federico Faggin

I am proud of serving on the board of governance of BAIA, a group of Italian professionals working in the Bay Area. Around 6 times a year, we organize events on different topics. This month Grazia Bennet, one of our governance members, invited her friend Bill Draper to speak.

The event took place at the historic San Francisco Orrick Building. The space was beautiful and the food really yummy. One of the perks of coming to one of our events!

Federico Faggin asked Bill Draper a few questions, followed by some from the audience. You can read a great recap of the event on the BAIA blog. You can also see more of the photos I took at the event here.

The most important thing that stuck with me was the answer Mr. Draper gave to a question from the audience. When asked to what he ascribed his success, he answered it was due to the people who helped him along the way. He stressed that nobody makes it alone and it's so important to work with other people who are experts in their fields. There was a lot of honesty and openness to this conversation which was refreshing and engaging.

My good friend Gianluca Corinaldesi made a video of the event, check it out.

Fun Engagement Photos in San Francisco

As you have probably noticed, I prefer to take picture in the natural landscape...how fun to do something different for Jeanie and Tony.

One thing I have been suggesting to brides is to take advantage of the engagement photo shoot to test their make up artist. Jeanie went right ahead and got her make up done by Angela LaFlamme, the official makeup artist of Locally Grown Weddings

Not only Angela has years of experience working on film sets and photo shoots, but she is also a stylist and clothing designer, and she helped Jeanie and Tony get ready for their shoot by suggesting accessories to complement their outfits.

We walked around North Beach and ended our photo session at Coit Tower. No, we didn't walk up there! I drove...try to walk up Coit Tower with all my photo gear!

Looking forward to photographing Tony and Jeanie's wedding at the Cliff House next Saturday!

Heather and Douglass are Engaged!

Lately it seems like everybody I photograph is passionate about photography...I love it!

Douglass turned out to be a lot of fun as we exchanged ideas for his engagement photos with Heather. After the usual "warm up" we all got in sync and found new ways to pose and interact.

The shoot ran longer than expected as we tried new things and looked for more interesting places to take pictures.

Heather's engagement ring is beautiful...I tried to do it justice, but you should see it in person.

I love these pictures. Thank you, Heather and Douglass!

Sonya, Carl and Jenny

Sonya and Carl had wanted good pictures of themselves (with Jenny, their sweet dog) forever! Finally, they decided it was time to get to work.We had to reschedule a couple of times because of the rain, but it was worth it as the day ended up being just perfect.
